Motherboard manufacturers collective price increase

According to Taiwan’s “Economic Daily” report, due to rising costs of key components such as PCBs and labor resources, Taiwan’s motherboard manufacturers have collectively increased product prices.

MSI recently announced at CeBIT 2011 that its motherboard prices have increased by about 5-10% from March 1st, while the two top line vendors Asustek and Gigabyte have also raised their motherboard prices since February.

Actually, Asustek warned earlier this year that they have decided to raise prices on the main board this year because of the shortage of labor resources in mainland China, the increase in Taiwan dollar value, and the rise in raw material costs. In particular, the price of copper has exceeded 9,000 US dollars per ton.

Asustek and Gigabyte did not disclose the specific price increase, and it is estimated that it is also up and down 10%, up to 15%.
