The domestic 100,000-ton "Big Mac" semi-submersible ship is delivered like an aircraft carrier

It looks like an aircraft carrier. The flat deck area has two standard football fields. It can dive to 30.5 meters underwater. It can easily lift 100,000 tons of heavy objects at sea. - 8th, Guangzhou Shipyard International Co., Ltd. is the world's largest special Ship transportation company--China's largest semi-submersible ship "Xinguanghua" built by COSCO Shipping Special Transportation Co., Ltd. was named and delivered in Nansha District, Guangzhou.

How big is the “big Mac” at sea? Deck area equals two football fields

The "Xingguanghua" semi-submersible, which resembles an aircraft carrier, is a 100,000-ton semi-submersible ship, the largest and the second largest semi-submersible ship in the world. The ship has a total length of 255 meters, a width of 68 meters, a dive of 30.5 meters, a payload of 98,000 tons, a service speed of 14.5 knots, a loading deck of 210 meters, a width of 68 meters, and a deck area of 13,500 square meters, which is exactly the same. Two standard football fields are big.

This "Big Mac" can handle large and inseparable large objects by dive, floating or docking. This type of ship is also known as the "Hercules Forklift" at sea. It is mainly used for transporting extra large parts. Goods, such as offshore platforms, large steel structures, floating docks, feeder ships that are not suitable for ocean navigation, etc., can also be used for salvage and salvage purposes.

According to reports, the "Xinguanghua" has a total of 118 ballast tanks, and each ballast tank has a valve that leads directly to the seabed. The dive operation does not need to use kinetic energy to load. As long as the submarine valve of the corresponding ballast tank is opened by the ship's control system, the ship will automatically submerge into 30.5 meters of water and 16 meters above the main deck within 6 hours. When floating up, the four large air compressors equipped on the ship will inject air into the corresponding ballast water tanks, and the ballast water in the ballast tank will be automatically discharged out of the ship, and the ship will float upwards.

How many technologies are there? Self-contained power positioning "needle embroidery" at sea

The “Xing Guang Hua” is powered by two sets of electric propulsion systems, and is equipped with two sets of thrusters in the bow and the bow. The ship is powered by six main diesel generators with a power of 4,750 kW and comes with the most advanced DP2 dynamic positioning system. This high-profile power configuration gives this ship the most powerful power performance. At the same time, the ship is also the world's largest semi-submersible ship with DP2 dynamic positioning system.

"This ship can be powered by DGPS, laser and radar systems with an error of only 0.05 meters. When performing high-precision engineering work at sea, it is comparable to 'needle-embroidering'". Project manager Lin Jiuyue described the ship as such. The powerful features of the dynamic positioning system.

“This kind of ship often has to install large drilling platforms or load and unload large cargo at sea, so it must be positioned accurately.” Han Guangde, chairman of Guangzhou Shipyard International, introduced that even if there is no DGPS signal, as long as there is a fixed reference object, the ship still has Positioning can be done by laser or radar signals. There is no need to anchor when working at sea, only need to lock a coordinate point, no matter how the wind and wave affect, she can be stably positioned at the locked coordinate point under the action of the ship's power system.

It is also very convenient to operate such a "big Mac", not only in the cab combination console, but also on the two sides of the deck. In addition, the ship's power system has a redundant configuration, and any two of the six main generators fail, and will not have any impact on the power of the entire ship.

How difficult is it? Overcoming technical problems

The “Xinguanghua” semi-submersible ship is the first semi-submersible ship to be built in China. With its rich experience in the construction of semi-submersible ships, GSI has successfully overcome a large number of technical problems. Zhou Xuhui, deputy general manager of Guangzhou Shipyard International, said that because the deck was under heavy pressure when the ship was working, the steel plate used on the deck surface was 60 mm thick. Welding of such a large thickness of steel plate, anti-deformation control is the key to construction, GSI has set up a team to attack, introduced global innovative engineering technology, innovative process technology, and finally successfully overcome this technical problem.

The ship is fully electric powered and the cable length of the ship is 420 km. The propulsion system is powered by a 6600 volt medium-voltage system. Each cable is as thick as an adult's arm, and the construction and installation accuracy requirements are extremely demanding. The construction personnel must attend special training and pass the test before they can enter the operation.

According to Lin Jiuyue, the project manager of Guangzhou Shipyard International, the “Xin Guanghua” is very highly automated. In the various areas of the ship, more than 9,000 automatic control points are set up in the various areas. These control points are like the nervous system of the human body, any small equipment on board. In the event of a failure, the operator can discover and reprocess it in the first place.

About 50% of the world's newly built semi-submersible ships are made in Guangzhou.

The “Xinguanghua” semi-submersible ship signed a construction contract on June 30, 2014, and started construction on March 20, 2015. The construction process lasted only 20 months.

It is understood that there are only a few dozen semi-submersible ships operating in the world, of which the semi-submersible ships built by GSI have reached 8 ships, accounting for 30% of the global semi-submersible capacity and 50% of the newly built semi-submersible ships. . Before 2002, the semi-submersible ship construction and transportation market was basically monopolized by foreign countries. On December 17, 2002, China's first self-built 18,000-ton semi-submersible ship, Tai'ankou, was officially delivered by China Shipbuilding International (Group) Corporation. The successful construction of the ship filled the gap in the construction of semi-submersible ships in China's shipbuilding industry and broke the long-term monopoly. Since then, GSI has built a number of 50,000-ton and 70,000-ton semi-submersible vessels for shipowners in and around the country. The construction technology is becoming more mature and the production efficiency is also greatly improved.

The completion of “Xin Guanghua” will undoubtedly further consolidate Guangzhou’s market position as the “leading boss” in the construction of semi-submersible ships in the world.
