Apple CEO Cook publicly apologizes on iOS6 map error

On September 29th, according to foreign media reports, Apple's chief executive Tim Cook responded positively to the disappointing report on Apple Maps' service performance. He publicly published a report to Apple customers. The letter of apology stating that the company was sorry for failing to provide customers with world-class products and suggested that customers use competitors' alternative services.

Cooke mentioned in the letter of apology that the map service provided by the company in the first iOS system was Google Maps, but over time, the company hopes to provide customers with a better map service. Better map services should include more powerful features such as turn-by-turn navigation, voice navigation, overpass signs, and vector maps.

Cook said: "To do this, we must start from scratch to develop a new version of the map service."

Cook also pointed out that iOS devices that are using Apple's map service have already exceeded 100 million units, and more users are added every day. Cook encourages users to use Apple's map service more, he said: "The more times our customers use map services, the better the product will become. We thank you for the feedback you provided us."

However, due to the poor performance of the current Apple Maps service, Cook advised users to “try other alternative services such as Bing, MapQuest, and Waze, or visit Google or Nokia’s website to use the map services provided by them.”
