Can Samsung discard Android and compete with Apple?

This week, Samsung announced the opening of the Open Innovation Center in Silicon Valley and New York in the hope of accelerating the growth of Tizen, its new replacement application platform for Android systems. This shows that Samsung is trying to transform from a hardware company to a company more like Apple, a company that can make money from hardware, software, applications, services, and advertising.

Tizen is now available. Samsung is working with Intel to develop Tizen, a Linux-based operating system. Its direct rival (or alternative platform) is Google's Android. By the end of this year, Samsung mobile phones running Tizen are expected to hit the market.

In an effort to catch up with Apple and Google, Samsung chose to develop the platform and use the platform. In fact, it's hard to imagine Apple's launch of the iPhone in 2007 and then telling users that it can run iOS, Android or other systems.
