WWF urges EU to cancel anti-dumping duty on energy-saving lamps

WWF sent a letter to the European Commission's environmental affairs commissioner Stavros Jimas on the 28th, once again urging the EU to lift anti-dumping duties on Chinese energy-saving lamps exported to Europe.
The World Wide Fund for Nature, based in Switzerland, is one of the world's leading conservation organizations. The foundation said in this letter that energy-saving light bulbs imported from China are 20% more energy efficient than traditional incandescent bulbs. If all households in the EU use energy-saving lamps, they can reduce household lighting consumption by 60%, and the EU will reduce it every year. 23 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions. The foundation emphasizes that this will help the EU achieve its goal of reducing energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions by 20% by 2020.

The EU Spring Summit in March this year adopted an extensive energy conservation plan. According to the plan, the EU will promote the use of energy-saving lamps and phase out incandescent lamps. The European Lights Enterprise Alliance has also proposed a plan to replace high-energy incandescent bulbs with energy-saving light bulbs in Europe by 2015.
