Panasonic Lighting subsidiary plans to withdraw from the fluorescent lamp market and enter LED lighting

It is reported that Panasonic Corporation's lighting subsidiary "Panasonic Corporation EcoSolutions Company (hereinafter referred to as PCESC)" plans to exit the household fluorescent lamp market before the end of 2015 (before the end of March 2016), and switch all the products into LED lighting.

On March 5th, PCESC published 34 LED lighting products that can change the color of the light (white or yellow) with the indoor brightness. In 2013, the revenue of the above 34 LED lighting products was 1.2 billion yen.

Panasonic has discontinued its home incandescent bulbs at the end of October 2012; Panasonic's competitors in the lighting market, Toshiba and Mitsubishi Electric, stopped producing incandescent bulbs before Panasonic.

According to data from a Japanese city regulator, the domestic LED lighting market in Japan reached 59 billion yen in 2012, and is expected to expand to 65.9 billion yen in 2015.
