Using gestures to control the computer, Apple's new patent allows you to lose the mouse and keyboard
(Source: AppleInsider) According to foreign media AppleInsider report, this week, Apple recently released two computer vision related technology patents. With these two patents, users will no longer need a keyboard or a mouse. Using gestures directly, they can control the computer or other iOS devices in space. (Source: AppleInsider) The patents for these two new technologies are 9417706 and 9417637, both of which are new interactions based on 3D technology and computer vision. According to the data introduction, the patented technology numbered as 9417706 can identify the user's gestures through a camera, so as to realize the switching control of the user interface. Although there are desktops with cameras in the patented material, according to AppleInsider, the technology will not be limited to desktop applications. A specific technical application is mentioned in patent document No. 9417706 - gestures to unlock the computer. Slightly different from mobile phone unlocking, the new patented technology allows the user to “render†gestures in mid-air to unlock the computer without having to touch it on the screen. In addition , users can gesture control objects in a computer screen in three-dimensional space. Another patent, numbered 9,417,763, has the significance of augmented reality (AR), which can detect the user's face and provide data information of the user's face, such as lateral movement, up and down flip, left and right flipping and other action information. Devices equipped with this technology will not only track the relative distance between the device and the user, but will even detect the user's eyes. Patented materials claim that with this technology, computers or other devices can display more realistic virtual 3D images. For applications, the patent no. 9417763 can determine whether to enable high-energy graphics chips. When the user is not looking at the device display, the system can automatically turn off the graphics chip, thus extending the battery life. It is reported that the patent No. 9417706 was filed in May 2014 and approved in May 2015; the patent No. 9417763 was applied in December 2014 and was approved in April 2015. Both patents have been announced on Tuesday local time.
