Softbank "Internet of Things" strategic robot Pepper will land in Taiwan this year

Softbank last year launched the humanoid robot Pepper, which announced that Pepper will land in Taiwan this year. Taiwan will also become the second market for Pepper after Japan. Pepper Robot is manufactured by Foxconn, a subsidiary of Taiwanese company Hon Hai. Softbank plans to lease 100 Peppers to local banks and stores.

Beijing time on July 26 morning news, Softbank humanoid robot Pepper will be released in Taiwan later this year, when it will provide about 100 equipment for external leasing. Softbank executives in charge of the project said on Monday that the robot will be used in some banks and Carrefour supermarkets.

Taiwan will thus become the first market outside of Japan to release Pepper. This robot is also a vital part of Softbank's founder Sun Justice's “Internet of Things” strategy. The so-called Internet of Things will use a network of sensors, sensors, and sensors on buildings to collect and exchange data.

It is worth mentioning that as a foundry of Pepper, Foxconn headquarters is also located in Taiwan.

However, Pepper is not yet ready to sell, nor is it planned to be launched for Taiwanese consumers – like many markets, Taiwanese people have yet to view humanoid robots as part of their daily lives.

Foxconn executive director Lu Fangming said that Softbank plans to achieve a monthly target of 60 Peppers in the first half of 2017.

Lu Fangming said that the banking department of Taiwan's First Financial Controls and Taishin Financial Holdings, the life insurance department of Cathay Financial Holdings and Taiwan Telecom's Asia Pacific Telecom are expected to use Pepper in the business hall to meet the basic needs of customers. Lu Fangming is also the chairman of Asia Pacific Telecom.

Carrefour executive Marilyn Su said the company also plans to use Pepper in two stores in Taiwan. He revealed that the first task of the robot was to understand the customers and how they interacted with Pepper, especially with children, before they could order more products.

Foxconn's Perobot division will be responsible for Pepper's sales and maintenance in Taiwan. They said that Pepper will sign a two-year lease contract at a rent of NT$26,888 per month (approximately US$836.67).
