Light path, circuit and wiring

The optical path, loop, and wiring are not the terminology of computerized light consoles. Manual light adjustment stations also have wiring capabilities. In order to facilitate the user's understanding of the relationship between the three, we use the manual dimming station as an example. For example, Guangzhou Hedong Electronics Co., Ltd.'s HDL-N30024 manual dimming console is a 24-channel, 24-loop, fixed wiring dimming station. In the above figure, any optical path can control the output of any circuit, or a combination thereof, for example, the optical path 1 can control the voltage of the loop 18, or control the output voltage of the 1 to 18 circuits. Conversely, too, either loop can be controlled by either light path or a combination of them.

Any light path can control any circuit or loop combination through the wiring, but the same circuit cannot be controlled by two or more light paths at the same time, for example, the circuit 2 is assigned to the light path 1, and the light path 1 will simultaneously control the circuits 1 and 2 However, the original link between circuit 2 and optical path 2 will be automatically interrupted. That is, circuit 2 will no longer be controlled by optical path 2. At the same time, the wiring status in this figure is 1-to-1 wiring, that is, 1 by 1 . What is 1-to-1 wiring? Any circuit with the same number of light path wiring, the rest of the circuit will be in a suspended state. For example, in this Figure 3, the optical path 1 is equipped with a circuit 1, the optical path 2 is equipped with a circuit 2, the optical path 3 is equipped with a circuit 3, and the circuits 4 and 5 are in a suspended state. After the general computer dimming station is cleared, it will return to the 1-to-1 wiring state, such as Strand series dimming consoles, HDL Harmony series dimming consoles. There are also exceptions for individual brands or individual models of dimmers, such as Q12, Q24, and Pearl 2000.

The optical path is the most important parameter to measure the size of the dimmer, not the loop. Normally, the dimming stations below 120 roads (which will be referred to below if not stated) are all small dimming stations. The 120 to 1024 channels belong to medium-sized dimming stations and the 1024-channel and above are large-scale dimming stations. For example, a certain type of dimming console has only 24 optical paths, but it can control 512 loops (such as HDL-2013). It is still a small dimming station. Although the 2011 Harmony Dimmer also has 2048 loops and 512 optical channels, it is also a medium-sized dimming console. Although the 2011H Harmony Dimmer Station is also a 2048 loop as in 2011, the optical path is 2048, which is several times larger than in 2011. It is a large dimming station and the price is more expensive than the former. It is worth noting that some companies often only indicate the number of loops on the product introduction data, or simply label the loop as a light path. Users should pay attention when selecting a light control station.

How does the optical path have more or less influence on operation? With the same number of loops, are the two dimming stages with different light paths better? Assume that there are two dimming stations with the same number of loops, but different numbers of optical paths, one of which is a 3-light path and a sixth-loop. FIG. 4_a is a schematic diagram of the dimming stage. The other is 6 light paths and 6 circuits.

As shown in FIG. 4_a, the loops 1 and 3 are connected to the optical path 1, the loops 2 and 4 are connected to the optical path 2, and the loops 5 and 6 are connected to the optical path 3. Since all the circuits that are assigned to the same optical path have the same brightness value, in fact, the three-channel and six-circuit dimming stations can only call up to three types of brightness at the same time. By analogy, the 6-channel and 6-circuit dimming stations can simultaneously adjust up to 6 brightness levels, as shown in Figure 4_b. If the dimming console is seen as a palette for the lighting designer, a dimming console can only recall 3 shades, while the b-dim panel can adjust up to 6 shades. Compared to a dimming console, the b dimming console can add more color to the stage, more delicately depict the character landscape, and make the stage more beautiful.
