According to the latest data released by market research firm Gartner, the revenue of global semiconductor manufacturers this year fell by 3% compared to 2011. The top 25 manufacturers in the chip industry are even more serious, with revenue falling by 4.2%.
“Macroeconomic uncertainties, coupled with continued overstocking, have had a profound impact on the semiconductor industry,†said Steve Ohr, research director at Gartner. “The hardest-hit areas include PC supply chains, memory, and more.†Is the driving force of the semiconductor industry, but this year for the first time fell 2.5%. Only two of the top ten semiconductor manufacturers this year have seen no decline. Qualcomm is one of them.
