Century Aluminum upgrades LED beacons to replace old-fashioned beacons

[High-tech LED News] It is reported that the Hawesville Century Aluminum Raw Aluminum Smelter in Kentucky has been operating since 1969, with an annual capacity of 244,000 tons. The original incandescent beacon lighting system with a 400-foot chimney was installed in the 1970s.

The company said it hopes to upgrade its outdated technology to save energy and costs. A new, highly efficient Dialight Series L-864 LED red beacon is being used to replace the old beacon.

The new beacons can reduce operating expenses because they consume less than 10% of the power required for incandescent lamps, directly affecting Century Aluminum's bottom line production, and are energy efficient and environmentally friendly. Since then, the company will achieve annual CO2 emissions. The reduction of 38 tons is equivalent to the reduction of the amount of carbon dioxide released by seven cars per year on the road.
