“Chongling Energy Saving Lamps Released Clean Development Mechanism Project (CDM)†is the first clean development mechanism project in the lighting industry registered in the United Nations. It is a successful case of using carbon market to promote the application of low carbon products, and promotes low use of carbon finance in China. The development of the carbon market has played an important role in the demonstration.
As early as April 2010, the project began to operate in Lishui County. TCP Qiangling Group distributed 1 million high-quality TCP energy-saving lamps to 220,000 rural residents in Lishui County, replacing the corresponding number of incandescent lamps in residents' homes. It is estimated that the 1 million energy-saving lamps will save nearly 300 million kWh of electricity in seven years.
Liu Yongzhong, secretary of the municipal party committee, said that the project is an innovative move that conforms to the requirements of the scientific development concept and transforms the development mode. It is understood that the project will cover 10 million households in Jiangsu Province through several years, and the scale of energy-saving lamps is expected to reach 50 million. The project will export the “saving†indicators through the KfW Bank to offset the emission reduction obligations of developed countries in the “Kyoto Protocolâ€, thus achieving a multi-win situation.
Yan Zhaoling, chairman of Qiang Ling Energy-saving Light Source Co., Ltd. said that Qiang Ling energy-saving lamps have excellent performance and can meet the service life of 10,000 hours required by the United Nations. Not only that, but also the company pays great attention to the clean production in the production process. The mercury content is only 1 mg, which is far below international standards.
Wolfgang Rohr, Consul General of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Shanghai, pointed out that an important cause of climate anomalies is energy waste. "We only have one planet. We need international cooperation to deal with climate issues and we need everyone's efforts. The signing of the CDM emission reduction target purchase agreement for the CDM will set a milestone for Sino-German cooperation."
