The measuring current portion of the clamp multimeter is composed of a current transformer and a current measuring part of the multimeter. When a current flows through the wire, the current meter pointer connected to the secondary winding is deflected proportionally to indicate the value of the current to be measured.

8. The clamp-type multimeter must not measure the current of the high-voltage line. The voltage of the tested line should not exceed the voltage level specified by the clamp meter (generally but over 500 volts) to prevent insulation breakdown and personal electric shock.
9. The measurement should estimate the magnitude of the measured current, select the appropriate range, and do not use the small range gear to measure the large current. 10. Before the measurement, pay attention to turn the range switch to the corresponding AC current position. Do not use the voltage file and resistor. File to measure the current, remember! Do not use the resistance gear and current file to measure the voltage, otherwise, if you are not careful, it will burn the meter.
