As a result, I was ready to buy a TV. I couldn't help but stop waiting for new products. Until March, new product series were listed in the country and I immediately purchased a 55-inch 9000E, recharging a belief.

Except for the OLED A1 models that have not yet been listed, Sony's new products this year all belong to 4K HDR LCD TVs. In fact, I am most looking forward to the OLED, but given that it has not yet been listed, and even if it is listed, I certainly can not afford it, so I can only give up. The day was definitely not a load, but obviously it couldn't help but look in the box first. The TV is an Android system and the first time it is turned on is very slow.

The next night, the installation master arrived late for a wall-mounted installation. Wall mounting requirements are load-bearing walls, otherwise they may not hang. In fact, I can go to the Internet to buy a rack of their own punching equipment, but still find some of the official after-sales assured, if there is a place to fall after that there is no reason to say. The installation master took me 300 pieces. I did not ask them about their fees. They are for reference only.

Since Sony's sales, of course, have to use Sony's rack. This pylon supports two different mounting methods. The distance from the wall is different. I eventually chose a type farther away from the wall for two reasons. This TV comes with a very large external transformer. The transformer was hidden behind the TV; I reserved a wall socket and a 50mm empty tube for threading on the wall. It was not very convenient to get close to the wall.

The entire 9000E series is a silver + black body with a Sony logo below and BRAVIA in the upper left corner. To be honest, this kind of brushed metallic silver does not make people feel a sense of “sensibility”. It may be that Sony deliberately made this way, forcing you to buy more expensive models.

Of course, the appearance of the TV is not as important in my eyes. Before buying the TV, I actually went to a Sony store. There was only a 65-inch 9000E prototype. There was a 65-inch 9300D next to the prototype. Let the clerk play the same demo video, you can see the nuances, but it may be because of the angle of placement and lighting in the store, and did not see that the older 9300D, which is more expensive, is much better than the 9000E. However, in Suning's previous look at the 8500D and 7500D, the difference in grades can be clearly seen. Of course, this does not prove that the quality of the 9000E is comparable to that of the old model 9300D. After all, it is just a subjective feeling.

When the TV is at home, you can't compare it to other models. You can only look at the quality of the TV alone. I connected the TV to the computer and first let it display the full white screen. You can see that the backlight is very even and there is a slight vignetting angle. (The following screen shots were taken with a mobile phone. The quality is limited, for reference only.)

Then turn the screen into black and the backlight turns off. So I let the mouse display in the picture, with the mouse movement, you can clearly see the advantages of partitioned backlight - only the area around the mouse is backlit, the rest is still all black. Even where there is a backlight, the contrast is kept well. I tried to display some content on the edge of the screen, the effect is still great, there is no light leakage problem.

I think that taking a look at the black and white screen is a very good test method for a layman like me. Then came a Sony demo from the Internet, known as 4K HDR. Since it is actually a trailer for a movie, the 1080p version can be easily found online. I'm curious how different 4K HDR and 1080p are.

First of all, let's take a look at the video parameters of 4K HDR. The key point I have already painted is for you.

You can see that the video is encoded using HEVC, the size is 3840*2160, the color depth is 10bit, and the Rec. 2020 color space should be the standard HDR10 format.

Look at the traditional 1080p, it is very common AVC encoding, the color space is Rec. 709.

So on this Sony midrange machine, the playback effect will be how much difference? Let's take a look at the screen shot. Again: The following pictures are taken with a mobile phone, so they do not reflect the real picture. They are for reference only.

In the first comparison chart, it can be seen that the contrast of the HDR version is indeed stronger (note the black wall in the distance).

The second is a close-up of a big cousin's face. The difference between contrast and color is even greater. I can't help but wonder if it is the iPhone's white balance.

The third one is the effect of a particularly large explosion, and HDR is indeed superior. Interestingly, I got a full version of this movie Blu-ray, where the same shot looks very different from the trailer. In the full version, this explosion looks very fake, and it is obvious that it was shot under the green screen. There was no sincerity in the late synthesis. The footage in the trailer was obviously much more realistic. Seeing here I seem to have discovered Hollywood's little secret. Do they want to save money on budgets and only make better and more expensive special effects for the trailers?

Seeing here, you can feel that HDR does have a better improvement than ordinary HD video. However, the biggest problem is still a film source. The purchase and playback costs of 4K UHD Blu-ray are quite high. Online streaming media is a good choice. But those domestic video sites...they provide 4K, and regardless of HDR, at that bit rate, it is estimated that even the 1080p trailer (9Mbps) above it is higher. Write here, can only contain hate why there is no such quality service Netflix in the country ... ... Keke, pull away, or say back to television.

Another common way to experience 4K HDR is PS4 Pro. It should be noted that in order to achieve the best output, you need to use an HDMI 2.0 cable that supports HDCP 2.2 and the bandwidth is 18Gbps for 2160p@60Hz. The line that comes with the PS4 Pro is good enough under normal circumstances, but because I need to hide the connection line, I need to go around a bit more, so I went online and bought a line with 3 meters.

Why buy braided wire? Because the ordinary ones have been out of stock ... and the braiding line is also expensive, it hurts...

In addition, optical cable is still not enough, you also need to enter the TV settings → external input → HDMI signal settings, it is adjusted to "enhanced mode."

The overseas versions of Sony BRAVIA TVs advertise that they are Android TVs. Unfortunately, just like those Android phones, the Google Play market has been neutered and replaced with a very potent application market. One is related to online video. No app. Fortunately, Sony does not restrict users from installing their own apps. Instead, they just need to put the APK in a USB flash drive and install it through a tool called Application Assistant.

Fortunately, it still inherits the benefits of Android TV, the interface is beautiful, and the fluency can also be. The number of TVs pre-installed by the system, known as 4K sources, is updated 10 times a week, and movie resources are 2,500+ units. Looked at it, there are 109 4K movies. Ordinary users can only preview the first 10 minutes. Just open one point and the resolution should be 4K. But this bit rate... certainly does not exceed 10Mbps.

Android system-level hardware is almost enough to use, plus there is no limit to the installation of third-party applications, already very conscientious (that is, you: Royal Metropolitan Unicom sent IPTV). In addition, the system has other minor functions, such as Miracast screencasting, DLNA LAN media library, etc. But without AirPlay, Google Cast is also castrated, and DLNA is very difficult to use (for example, does not support external subtitles).
